The President stated: The government’s policy and vision is to supply heating and cooling of homes through electricity and eliminate gas usage. Therefore, development is needed in all areas including panels, equipment, storage, and related tools.
According to ISNA, Masoud Pezeshkian, at the 9th International Renewable Energy Conference, said that the government monitors the energy situation daily and weekly, with a focus on clean energy, wind, solar, and nuclear power. He added: “We are striving to solve energy problems. The policy and vision is that heating and cooling of homes should be supplied by electricity and gas should be eliminated. Therefore, development is required in all areas including panels, equipment, storage, and a full range of tools.”
He emphasized the need to rethink the industry, stating: “We must work to reduce fossil fuel use and increase the use of clean energy, and also steer vehicles in this direction; moreover, we should increase efficiency.”
The President noted that supply and demand are two sides of the equation and said: “According to data, we consume six times more electricity than some European countries. If people cooperate more, we can correct this trend.”
Pezeshkian stressed that instead of using multiple chandeliers, we can turn on two lamps and seriously manage consumption. He said: “Incorrect and excessive demand must be corrected, and we should use energy according to need. The fastest and most necessary way is to use clean and solar energy, and we will pursue this policy.”
He added that universities can contribute at any temperature and increase efficiency. “Using clean energy not only resolves imbalance but also reduces air pollution.”
According to him, motor and vehicle production must move toward electrification, and heating and cooling sectors must also shift accordingly, because without energy from power plants, industrial production is meaningless.
He stated that last year, losses from gas and electricity outages exceeded 300 trillion rials, but this problem can be solved. “So far, nearly 80,000 megawatts of renewable energy capacity have been contracted.”
Pezeshkian referred to electricity tariffs and said: “The current pricing trend will not continue. When electricity is provided free to people, they do not value it. If we want a developed country, we must move toward solar energy because the sun is inexhaustible. If there are any obstacles to development, we will fix them to maximize utilization.”
