Iran’s ambassador to Moscow announced that, based on agreements between the two countries, Russia is set to invest $8 billion in Iran’s gas projects, of which nearly $5 billion has already been finalized. The remaining agreements are also progressing toward finalization.

According to Tasnim News Agency, Kazem Jalali made these remarks during a meeting with a group of prominent Russian Iranologists.

In this meeting, the Iranian ambassador to Russia elaborated on Russia’s investments in Iran’s energy and oil sectors—particularly in the country’s gas fields—and emphasized that in 2024, Russia was the largest foreign investor in Iran.

According to the agreement between the two countries, Russia is to invest $8 billion in Iran’s gas projects, with nearly $5 billion already finalized and the rest of the agreements moving toward finalization.

Putin to Visit Tehran Soon
Jalali also noted the signing of a comprehensive strategic partnership treaty between Iran and Russia, as well as the enforcement of the Free Trade Agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union. He stated that bilateral relations have now reached the level of strategic partnership, with high-level visits between officials of the two countries becoming more frequent. He added that President Vladimir Putin will soon visit Tehran.
